By: Contributor(s): Publication details: Rio de Janeiro: IMPA, 2015.Description: video onlineSubject(s): Online resources:
Partial contents:
Formulas for the degrees of loci of hypersurfaces with a few (not many!) isolated singularities have been known from almost the beginning of times. I will concentrate on two main examples:- the degree of the locus of Whitney's umbrella cubics (old, joint with Daniel Coray) and- ditto for the Steiner roman quartics, fresh from the oven, joint with Adriana Rodrigues Silva .
