On the inviscid limit of the Navier-Stokes equations.

Partial contents:
We consider the convergence in the L2 norm, uniformly in time, of the Navier-Stokes equations with Dirichlet boundary conditions to the Euler equations with slip boundary conditions. We prove that if the Oleinik conditions of no back-flow in the trace of the Euler flow, and of a lower bound for the Navier-Stokes vorticity is assumed in a Kato-like boundary layer, then the inviscid limit holds. This is joint work with P. Constantin and I. Kukavica .

The Fourth Workshop on Fluids and PDE was held at the National Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics (IMPA) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from Monday 26 May to Friday 30 May 2014. This workshop is held every two to three years in Brazil. The fourth edition of the workshop was the closing event of a Thematic Program on Incompressible Fluids Dynamics, to be held at IMPA next Spring. Hence, the focus of the workshop will be incompressible fluid mechanics .
